This page is for checking any changes to the health precautions in place in Lyon.
The information provided here is regularly updated.

Given the serious health situation - an incidence rate of 640 per 100,000 people on December 3, 2021 - the French government has confirmed that the Festival of Lights may go ahead, providing a strict health protocol is applied by the City of Lyon.

In response, the Prefect has defined an area which is larger than the Festival of Lights perimeter (City centre, Old Town, parc de la Tête d’Or and parc Blandan) in which the following rules apply:
Adults and children over 11 must wear masks
It is forbidden for shops and street food vendors to sell food and beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.
• It is forbidden to consume food or beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in the street between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.
• Covid passports must be shown before entering the following 5 venues which are hosting illuminations:

Lycée La Martinière / the SUBS / Saint Luc Saint Joseph Hospital /  Bullukian Foundation / Gadagne Museum

Bars and restaurants will only be serving on their premises and Covid passes must be shown. Like for the Christmas market, a cordoned-off hospitality area has been set up on place Maréchal Lyautey (Lyon 6) just outside the Festival area. Covid passports must be shown. There will be additional police checks throughout the festival in order to ensure compliance with all these measures.
