This year’s charity cause is a local non-profit Alynea – Samu Social 69. Alynea has been supporting vulnerable people for fifty years. It runs the Samu Social de Lyon frontline outreach services and combats homelessness which it considers to be a violation of a fundamental human right. Its multidisciplinary approach enables it to tailor its support to individual needs and it deals with more than 9,000 cases a year. The entire proceeds of the Lumignons du Cœur campaign will be used to renovate housing to offer more than 50 families a decent place to live.
The candles bought for charity will be included in a collaborative installation on place Sathonay where visitors will be able to “immerse” themselves in a giant aquarium populated by weird and wonderful fish and add their candles to the illuminated treasure at the bottom of the deep blue sea.
