At the start of every academic year since 2003, the Grands Ateliers in partnership with the City of Lyon have launched a call for projects for “student experiments” aimed at sixty or so higher education institutions specialising in art, design and architecture in France and elsewhere in Europe. In 2019, 19 out of the 89 student projects submitted were singled out to feature on the experimental trail as part of the festival. The students can give free rein to their imagination, the projects are selected on the basis of their originality and compatibility with the venues chosen. It is a fantastic opportunity to encourage the creativity of these budding artists.
