Since 1999, the Zéotrope Company has been trying to reinvent the relation between actor and spectator. Asking ourselves where the spectator stands and how he can be involved is, for us, what Theatre really is about.
Any space of the city can become Theatre, so long as the actor and the spectator are ready to meet each other and share the adventure the author brings them – may it be funny, tender, violent, political, crazy, dramatic (…) or everything at once.
Our work leads us through new territories (towns, neighbourhoods, institutions…), to meeting new people and - by inviting them to become part of an audience – together, we bring Theatre to life. Obviously, this work takes time. Every territory has its own identity and way of functioning that we need to fathom before starting any creation. Nonetheless, once theatre has been made possible, everything can become a creative source or material for a show.
