Scottish artist Craig Morrison trained in film studies before adopting a more multi-disciplinary approach that focuses on creating novel artistic experiences. He has already organised festivals in the UK, Australia and Asia and has gradually turned his attention to more sustainable working methods using natural materials. His projects all revolve around light and technology. Craig Morrison also belongs to LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International), a non-profit created in 2002 with more than 70 member counties who are seeking to use light to boost social, cultural and economic development. The “Beacon of Hope” project, renamed Beacon for the Lyon Festival of Lights, is a pioneering experimental initiative building bridges between festivals and creating a rapport with the public.
