This family-friendly event will be open from December 5 to 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Spread the word! The children’s party in Parc Blandan will be one of the highlights of the 2024 Festival of Lights lineup.

Boum de lumières means “light party” in French and it looks like everyone will be having a ball. "We are organising 8 different projects," explains Caroline Bernard, the founder of Scenitz Productions which is responsible for this installation together with AADN.

“My company works in the field of digital technology and hybrid art. I must admit organising a children’s party is a bit outside my comfort zone. But I found the project interesting because not many light festivals elsewhere in the world address a younger audience.” It was a specific requirement of the City of Lyon in line with its policy of being “a child-friendly city, designed by and for children.”

“I wanted to design a project that was lively, welcoming and fun... So I came up with the idea of a “Light Party” with a proper disco ball! To organise the party, Caroline called upon the services of artists who specialise in children’s entertainment. They are all local, either from Lyon itself or the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

On the agenda

Minichoux, le bal des petites bêtes: get all dolled up, it’s time to go dancing! Ladybirds, maggots and other illuminated insects have taken over the dance floor. You can join them for 15-minute sessions.  Be careful not to squash them, think about biodiversity!

The live drawing project: parents, lend your smartphone to your kids for a few moments so that they can make a finger drawing which will be displayed on the wall in real-time as part of a huge collaborative fresco.

Tombolight: join in this jolly tombola and try to win some second-hand prizes.

Karaoké à facettes: your chance to sing along karaoke style! A giant screen, a long playlist (for children only), a mike - that’s all you need for an impromptu concert.

Billes by night: playing with marbles has definitely not gone out of fashion. And it’s even more fun on a huge illuminated marble ring.

Constellation de papotes: “Which is your lucky star?” Children will be able to write their answer on a cardboard triangle which will be included in an illuminated fresco created by artists Kairos and Noémie.

Club confettis: it’s all about the glitter! Mask and badge making workshops, face-painting with biodegradable glitter and dayglo tattoos.

Chamboule toute la lumière: an illuminated version of the ever-popular coconut shy. You need to be a good shot! Take aim. Go!

Don’t forget there will be a food truck for snacks and meals.
