For the first time at the Festival of Lights, a work is being presented inside and during the day. And the place chosen for Row is none other than the Célestins theatre, with its flamboyant gilded, velvet red decor that is in stark contrast to the highly graphic installation of the Russian collective Tundra (now exiled in Europe). Comprising ten holographic screens in a “row”, with fast-rotating blades, it creates 3-D images that make the variations in sound visible. Using the row - from mathematics to the twelve notes of the chromatic scale - as a means of structuring the work, Tundra captures data floating in the air and converts it into messages and music. This creates a sensory experience that questions and expands our perception of information and language.
