"My artistic work is grounded in the living world. My way of doing things has changed and I travel much less. My aesthetic style has also evolved and is no longer as cold as in the past. My collaborative work now focuses more on conveying information," Joanie Lemercier explained from Brussels, where he has been living and working for the past nine years. At the age of forty, this visual artist has recently undergone a radical change, triggered by the shock, both physical and mental, of seeing a huge coal mine still in operation in Germany. "A scene of devastation. One of the illustrations of nature in peril". Like other artists, he has switched to a more responsible approach, from the inception of his projects right through to their installation and dismantling.
