Produced by the City of Lyon Events Department in aid of the non-profit APF France handicap.
For over 80 years, APF France handicap has been defending the rights of the disabled and their relatives, providing support for their daily lives. The motto of the association is "Being able to act, being able to choose".
Its initial mission was to help the disabled integrate into society, but it is now also involved in providing guidance, information and support for people with disabilities. As an active campaigner, it strives for universal accessibility for people with mobility issues, as well as offering them tailored support. This mission is supplemented by work on a daily basis to enforce their rights, whilst encouraging their autonomy and self-determination.
As this year's beneficiary of the Lumignons du Coeur campaign, the charity will be able to extend its Par'Hands project in the Rhône, which brings disabled parents together and provides them with support. This operation will also enable it to purchase new equipment for the "Adventure platform", an online rental service for leisure equipment adapted for the disabled. Donations collected during the Festival of Lights will also help boost its actions to raise awareness among schoolchildren – an educational project that has already been rolled out to over 10,000 children and teenagers in the region.
